I am a 33 year old, mother of 4. Though I have a college education, my husband and I have always agreed that I stay at home with the children, and I love it. I enjoy spending every waking minute with my 2 year old, and when the "big" boys are home from school we love spending time with them, walking, bike riding, playing at the park. I am proud to have the most awesome Husband of 14 yrs (June 27).
We were blessed to have conceived my DD through a donor, and that was a gift beyond words. To be able to do the same for another family would mean the world to me, for it has been weighing heavy on my heart that I am meant to do this.
Though I have never been a surrogate in the past, it has weighed on my heart for a long time. My husband and I after having 3 boys, within two years, chose for him to have a vasectomy. Our decision was greatly based on the advice of family members whom told us we would be so overwhelmed with that many kids so close together. Nine years later our hearts longed for a fourth, and with my DH being in his 40's we new a reversal was not an option, and adoption was not in the budget, unless we did foster care, but we had already three children and they were our top priority. So we chose to do something out of the ordinary (for my family), known donor. We also chose to keep it between only my Husband, Myself, and the Donor whom does not want to be known to our daughter. Knowing the blessings that we have been given, and the feeling of completeness it has brought to our family, I feel I need to do the same for another. God has given me the gift of fertility to share with others, not only were my first two pregnancies unplanned, but one resulted in the birth of twins. As for my daughter I did my own insemination and conceived on the very first attempt. My pregnancies have been all healthy, and uncomplicated.
